MIKE OATES

PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

My experience in the live event industry spans 28 years.

I have worked with some of the biggest artists in the world both from a Lighting level as well as Production Management and Site Management.

My experience in technical realisation of events has led to challenges across the globe some on very short lead times. My experience to multitask across all disciplines means that I can make informed accurate decisions quickly to ensure that there are no knock-on issues with the rest of the production.

My client roster include Site Management for Rod Stewart / Take That / The Killers / Little Mix, Production Advance Manager for Ed Sheeran

(Iceland) and Axwell and Ingrosso (Asia)

Production Management for Steve Angelo / Peter Kay / Lytham Festival / Greenwich Festival / V Festival / Eric Prydz / Courteeners  and Finally, TV Work Slimefest / Jeddah World Festival / V Festival South / MTV Titanic Rocks (Belfast).

PROJECT COORDINATOR

I am a Site and Project Coordinator working professionally in the industry for over 5 years as self-employed. I recently took on a full-time position within Production Box after working with them for the last two years.

I have experience in site coordination with managing festival arenas and campsites such as Lovebox, Wilderness (Mama Festivals) & Download Festival (VIP Nation), which I now use in the design, curation and delivery of large-scale stadium concerts such as Take That – Greatest Hits, Jeff Lynne's ELO and Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On.

I have worked in administrative positions such as Production Assistant and as a Site Office Manager for a variety of events, which also reflects onto my Artist Liaison / Artist Advance experience where I was involved in the management of Artists and their party across several events such as BBC 6 Music Festival, BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend (Exeter 2016, Hull 2017, Swansea 2018), as well as Leeds Festival running artist transport in 2016 & 2017.

I also have a specialist degree in Live Events Production from HE institution Backstage Academy based in Production Park Wakefield.

SITE MANAGER

I trained professionally as a Lighting Designer at the world-renowned RADA.

This allowed me to explore many aspects of work in the field of the lighting over a period of 10 years from theatre to corporate and concerts to festivals.

I always had a keen interest in the planning process of how shows are put together, so I’ve naturally moved into production and site management roles.

Initially I worked with local councils on engagement and arts development events, and, more recently have been involved with Production Box planning and delivering our stadium concerts and special events. I love taking our initial draft plans for shows through to completion and seeing the first audience walking through the door and the first artist walking on stage.

Most recently, I’ve been involved in the advance and site management planning for Take That, The Killers, Little Mix and Green Day stadium shows, and have been an on-site manager for Jeddah World Fest and Blackpool Lights Switch On.
